VANCOUVER — The British Columbia government has appointed veteran mediator Vince Ready to resolve a standoff between film and TV producers and unions over who chooses crew members.
Ready will work with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the Canadian Film and Television Production Assn. and the B.C. Council of Film Unions.
Two of B.C.’s film unions insist on dispatching crew workers based in part on seniority; producers want to request crew members by name. Teamsters Local 155 and the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Local 891 object to a change in the procedure recommended by Justice David Tysoe.
The mediator will present his findings April 1.
