Fleishman leaves Universal from Warner Bros.

Susan Fleishman has been tapped to fill the top communications post at Warner Bros., ankling as spokeswoman to Universal Studios prexy-chief operating officer Ron Meyer.

Fleishman officially arrives on the Warners lot Sept. 26, following a summer-long search that commenced with Barbara Brogliatti’s retirement in late May.

In her role as exec VP of corporate communications, Fleishman will report directly to Warner Bros. Entertainment chair-CEO Barry Meyer, who announced the appointment Tuesday.

“It is crucial that we have a knowledgeable and effective voice representing us,” Meyer said.

Meyer added Fleishman would help Warner Bros. Entertainment formulate and communicate its position on critical issues including piracy, runaway production and First Amendment questions.

“Her excellent relationships with the press that cover our businesses and her background dealing with the public, political and employee constituencies coupled with her spot-on instincts and judgment make her the natural choice,” Warner Bros. prexy-chief operating officer Alan Horn said.

Fleishman will work with Meyer, Horn and other senior management and will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all media relations, the company’s communications strategies worldwide, employee communications, governmental relations and executive communications.

Fleishman spent a decade at U, holding a number of senior communications titles.

Most recently, she was senior VP of corporate media affairs for Universal Studios. She also served as senior VP of community affairs for NBC Universal, a role she assumed after the Peacock-U merger.

Previously, she worked as director of communications for Rosen & Co. and before that as a public affairs exec at Sony Corp. of America.

Fleishman’s last day at Universal was Friday.
