‘White Male’ is locked up

Wellspring takes North American theatrical, DVD rights

NEW YORK — Indie distributor Wellspring has pacted with Court TV to snap up the Sundance world competish docu “Unknown White Male.”

Pic, helmed by Rupert Murray, follows a Brit who wakes up on a Brooklyn subway train with amnesia and must journey home to try to piece his life back together.

Under the pact, Wellspring takes North American theatrical and DVD rights, while Court TV comes away with exclusive domestic broadcast rights.

The two companies will be forging a multiplatform collaboration for marketing and promoting the film.

Beadie Finzi and Murray produced pic, which was exec produced by Jess Search. It was initially commissioned by the doc department at the U.K.’s Channel Four.

Repping the film in tandem, Submarine’s Josh Braun and RingTheJing Entertainment’s Roger Kass brought Wellspring and Court TV together at Sundance.

Wellspring has not set a theatrical release date.
