Focus is 'Infinite' for Depth of Field

Focus Features has optioned the novel “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist” as a producing vehicle for Depth of Field, the shingle run by Chris and Paul Weitz.

Lorene Scafaria has been set to adapt the Rachel Cohn and David Levithan-penned novel, which Knopf will publish in spring 2006.

Set during a night in the nightclub scene in downtown New York, the novel revolves around a drummer and the best friend of the girl Nick just broke up with. The novel covers the twists, turns and turmoil of a defining evening.

The authors are both bestsellers in young adult fiction: Cohn wrote “Pop Princess” and Levithan wrote “Boy Meets Boy.” This collaboration is their first.

Pic will be produced by the Weitz brothers and Andrew Miano, and the project is not envisioned as a directing vehicle for the former. Depth of Field is Universal-based, but the book marks the first project the producers set at Focus.

Scafaria wrote “The Mighty Flynn” for Warner Independent.
