Universal has bought an untitled romantic comedy pitch by Gina Wendkos. Pic will be produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Media Talent Group’s Geyer Kosinski.
Impetus for the pitch was a mutual desire by Jim Carrey and Angelina Jolie to make a movie together. Neither is formally attached at this nascent stage, but Wendkos devised a pitch that plays to their strengths and sounded good to them. Carrey and Jolie will get first crack.
Universal vice chairman of worldwide production Scott Stuber will oversee the project with senior veep Holly Bario and Imagine’s Kim Roth.
Wendkos’ script work includes “Coyote Ugly,” “The Princess Diaries” and its sequel, as well as upcoming Hilary Duff starrer “The Perfect Man” for Universal. She is now scripting “It Should Happen to You,” a Kate Hudson vehicle at Sony, as well as “Party Girl Chronicles” for New Regency and Fox.
