The U.K. Film Council will launch its inaugural Breakthrough Brits awards on Nov. 1, feting 13 British women from various disciplines in film. Thesp Brenda Blethyn will host the luncheon event at the Four Seasons.
Honorees include thesps Mary Nighy and Emily Blunt. Nighy, daughter of actor Bill Nighy, appears in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming “Marie Antoinette.”
Blunt nabbed a starring role in this summer’s “My Summer of Love.” She is set to begin production on 20th Century Fox’s “The Devil Wears Prada” alongside Meryl Streep.
Others collecting kudos are helmers Amma Asante, Gaby Della and Shona Auerbach; producers Abi Bach and Nira Park; and scribe Abi Morgan.
