NEW YORK — Tribeca Film Festival founders Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff have pegged April 25 as the kickoff for their fifth annual fest next year. It will run through May 7 in Lower Manhattan.
Festival has set Nov. 4 as its early submission deadline. Final deadline for shorts is Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 for features.
Annual event, presented by American Express, will again feature screenings, panel discussions, special events and a street fair.
This year’s fest included screenings of 158 features and 96 shorts from 45 countries. Ticketed attendance at screenings and panels in 2005 was 135,000, nearly 50% up on a year earlier, according to Tribeca brass.
Fest was founded in 2002 as a response to the impact of the World Trade Center attacks on the Gotham neighborhood.
