Toronto fest names senior int’l adviser

Filippelli to o'see sales office; Driscoll, Watamaniuk also join org

The Toronto Intl. Film Festival has brought aboard former RAI Trade sales exec Giulia Filippelli as senior international adviser overseeing the festival’s sales office.

Fest also has added Angie Driscoll and Myrocia Watamaniuk as programmers for its Canadian short films section.

Filippelli will report to fest co-director Noah Cowan. She will oversee sales office activities, including hospitality and relations with the international industry. She also will serve as lead adviser for the fest’s initiatives to expand the scope of its sales office.

Driscoll and Watamaniuk round out the Canadian film programming team, which includes associate director of Canadian special projects Steve Gravestock, senior coordinator of Canadian special projects Ben Murray and Canadian film programmers Liz Czach and Stacey Donen.

Driscoll has programmed Canadian films for the Hamilton Film Fest as well as the Indio Series and the McGill Film and Video Fest. For the past two years, she has coordinated the Toronto Documentary Forum at the Hot Docs festival.

Watamaniuk has programmed and managed various festivals including the Canadian Film Center’s Worldwide Short Film Festival and the Hot Docs Canadian Intl. Documentary Festival.
