MUMBAI — Fox Searchlight, Indian United Television Motion Pictures (UTV Motion Pictures) and Japanese Entertainment Farm will co-produce Mira Nair’s next film, “The Namesake,” an adaptation of the Pulitzer-winning novel.
While the $9.6 million project will be distribbed worldwide by Fox Searchlight, India will be handled by UTV.
The film will feature Kal Penn (“Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle”) and Zuleikha Robinson (“Merchant of Venice”). Bollywood thesps Irrfan Khan and Tabu co-star. Talks are under way with Kate Hudson, according to Nair.
