Sundance pic ‘Game 6’ finds kindred spirit

Keaton, Downey at the top of their 'Game'

Kindred Media Group, which launched last year under prexy Jeffrey Erb, has picked up North American distrib rights to helmer Michael Hoffman’s “Game 6,” starring Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr.

Pic, the first penned by novelist Don DeLillo, screened this year at Sundance. It was produced by Amy Robinson, Griffin Dunne, Leslie Urdang and Christina Weiss Lurie.

Kindred will open the pic March 3.

“Game” follows Keaton as a successful author whose most personal play is having its Broadway premiere. Before the curtain rises, the scribe must face the stress of potential pans, a sick leading man and the Red Sox facing the Mets in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. Downey plays New York’s most powerful legit critic.

Pic was produced through Serenade Films, Double Play Prods., Vox3 Films and Shadowcatcher Entertainment.

Dunne, Bebe Neuwirth, Catherine O’Hara and Ari Graynor round out the cast.

Kindred also recently inked a deal to pick up last year’s Toronto Film Fest entry “On the Outs,” in association with Polychrome Pictures, from Andrew Herwitz’s Film Sales Co.
