The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has selected 29 student filmmakers culled from 18 colleges and universities nationwide as finalists for its 32nd annual Student Academy Awards.
The films are nommed in four categories: alternative, animation, documentary and narrative. Five nominees for foreign-language film were earlier announced.
Gold, silver and bronze medals (with cash prizes of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000, respectively) will be awarded in each category. Winners participate in a week of industry-related and social activities leading up to the awards ceremony on Sunday.
