U.S. indie distributor Strand Releasing has sealed a pact to pick up docu writer-helmer Tim Kirkman’s first fiction feature “Loggerheads,” an ensemble drama starring Kip Pardue, Bonnie Hunt, Michael Learned, Tess Harper and Chris Sarandon.
Pic — which screened in competition at Sundance and, more recently, at Tribeca in New York — follows residents of various North Carolina communities dealing with adoption, Christianity, homosexuality and AIDS.
“Loggerheads” was produced by LasalleHolland’s Gill Holland (“Spring Forward”), and exec produced by Lillian Lasalle along with 120db Films’ Steve Hays.
Strand is eyeing a November release Stateside.
Pic was repped by Andrew Herwitz’s the Film Sales Co. Shingle simultaneously inked a distribution deal for the film with Shani Films in Israel.
Strand’s Marcus Hu and Jon Gerrans brokered the pact for the distribber.
Lasalle and Holland’s slate also includes the Alan Cumming-produced “Wedding Photo,” starring Cumming, and Ned Beatty.
