Stockholm to salute Cronenberg

Fest to be held Nov. 17-27

LONDON — Canadian helmer David Cronenberg is saddling up for a Bronze Horse for lifetime achievement at the Stockholm Film Festival.

The director will attend the Scandi fest, to be held Nov. 17-27, and will orchestrate a Cronenberg by Cronenberg selection of pics particularly meaningful to him.

Cronenberg’s “History of Violence” bowed May 15 in competition at Cannes; its relative restraint compared to most of his other pics surprised many.

Past recipients of the Bronze Horse include Elia Kazan, Roman Polanski, David Lynch and Oliver Stone. Swedish fest was established in 1990 and now operates year round with monthly screenings.
