Peter Dinklage (“The Station Agent”) will star in “An Affair of Sorcerers” as a detective based on the character Dr. Robert “Mongo” Frederickson in George C. Chesbro’s series of novels.
Los Angeles-based Firebrand Entertainment and Australian film company Greenlight Pictures are producing, with the aim of creating a franchise around the Mongo character.
“An Affair of Sorcerers” centers on a detective with dwarfism attempting to solve a mystery involving the occult in order to save the life of a young girl who’s been placed under a spell. Greenlight’s Matthew George is penning the screenplay.
The shingles have optioned Chesbro’s 14-book “Mongo” series, which blends mystery, suspense, action, science fiction and the supernatural. Firebrand’s Adam W. Rosen and George will produce along with Greenlight’s Steven Goldberg.
Dinklage just wrapped Stratus Films’ “Find Me Guilty” opposite Vin Diesel for director Sidney Lumet. “We could not ask for a more talented or more appropriate actor to help us bring Mongo to life,” said Rosen, a former exec at RKO and Warner Bros. Intl. TV.
Greenlight and Firebrand also are teaming on dramatic feature “Hollow Point,” scheduled to start production this summer in Melbourne with George directing, and on Nixon-era political drama “Acapulco Gold.”
