“Sideways” scribes Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Screenwriting Award at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television’s Festival 2005: New Creative Work in Theater, Film and Television.
Fest, running Friday through June 17, highlights student talent and features screenings of more than 100 student works.
The Oscar-winning duo will be honored at the Screenwriters Showcase at the WGA West Theater in Beverly Hills on Monday night alongside five student winners. Screenwriter Mike Werb hosts the night, which will also feature selected readings from the five student scripts. Payne, a UCLA alum, and Taylor have collaborated on such films as “Citizen Ruth,” “Election” and “About Schimdt.”
