“In America” director Jim Sheridan’s next project after “Get Rich or Die Tryin’ ” will be the Irish mafia movie “Emerald City,” which Radar Pictures and Relevant Entertainment are producing. The film, inspired by true events, is a look into the world of Irish organized crime in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City. Lukas Reiter, a former Queens assistant district attorney and a writer-producer on ABC’s “Boston Legal” and “The Practice,” is writing the script.
Project was hatched by Radar and Reiter. Then Relevant Entertainment’s Mike Menchel, who has a long-standing relationship with Sheridan, proposed the pic to the “In America” filmmaker and got him aboard.
