McElroy chews 'Bone'

Platinum Studios and the Shop Prods. have hired Alan McElroy to script “Bonesaw,” a CG horror feature.

Budgeted at $18 million, “Bonesaw” is based on Rob Moran’s upcoming graphic novel in which a horror-fantasy writer discovers her novels are about to release the hellish creatures she’s been writing about into the real world.

Relativity Management will co-finance the picture and is arranging the international elements.

Producing alongside Platinum’s Scott Mitchell Rosenberg will be the Shop co-founders Pearson and Aaron L. Gilbert. Platinum director of development Aaron Severson and director of production Jay Burns will co-produce.

Platinum and the Shop also are producing the CGI thriller “Dylan Dog: The Fourth Kingdom.”

McElroy worked with Todd McFarlane, writing both the “Spawn” feature and the first season of the animated series.

McElroy’s other credits include the Fox release “The Marine.”
