Sarasota counts ‘Millions’

Boyle pic skedded for a March rollout

Fox Searchlight and helmer Danny Boyle’s “Millions” took the top prize at the seventh annual Sarasota Film Festival Sunday night.

Pic — about two boys who stumble upon pilfered loot from a bank heist — is skedded for a March rollout through the Fox specialty arm.

Top doc at the Florida-based fest was Stephen Vittoria’s “One Bright Shining Moment: The Forgotten Summer of George McGovern.”

Rob Stefaniuk’s “Phil the Alien” and James Westby’s “Film Geek” shared the fest’s Independent Visions award.

Black tie awards ceremony at the Sarasota Ritz-Carlton was emceed by Lainie Kazan. Leslie Caron and Rutger Hauer accepted lifetime honors. Presenters included fest programmer Tom Hall and chairman Dr. John Welch.

Event kicked off Jan 28 with “The Thing About My Folks,” starring Peter Falk and Paul Reiser, by director Raymond De Felitta.
