‘Pink’ is pushed once more

Move will give studio chance to develop pic's marketing

Sony has once again changed the release date on “The Pink Panther”: Remake is now skedded to bow Feb. 10.

Sony has had good luck with the Valentine’s Day date, as both “Hitch” and “50 First Dates” debuted there.

Distrib prexy Rory Bruer said the move will give the studio, which inherited the project from MGM, a chance to develop its marketing effort.

“We’ve seen the film and we’re really excited,” he said. “We have an opportunity to really have a good, fresh start of the ‘Pink Panther’ franchise. We want the time to put together a proper campaign for it.”

Having already been shuffled into, out of, and back into the summer, pic was most recently skedded for Aug. 5.

New date puts “Panther” up against Universal toon “Curious George” and New Line romantic comedy “Just Friends.”
