PGA taps Hill fellow

Papon presented with $15,000

The Producers Guild of America has selected UCLA Film Program graduate Lucienne Papon as the recipient of its first Debra Hill Fellowship, presenting her with $15,000.

Fellowship was established after Hill’s death in March to honor her work on such issues as producers’ creative rights, women in entertainment and environmental initiatives. Hill was a longtime member of the PGA board.

“This fellowship isn’t just a way of honoring a beloved colleague but a logical extension of the mission of the guild itself,” said PGA exec director Vance Van Petten. He noted the fellowship, which is open to recent graduates of recognized producing programs, drew applicants from UCLA, USC, AFI and Columbia U.

Papon plans to use the funds to expand her slate of material and continue to develop her projects.
