PGA hosts big ‘Night’

Brown, Ellerbee earn 'Producer' kudos

The PGA East has tapped David Brown and Linda Ellerbee for honors at its first major event, “The Night of the Producer.”

Event, to be held Tuesday, aims to recognize major New York-based producers whose work has both left its mark on the entertainment industry and demonstrated the key role played by Gotham as a base of media production.

Event will take place at New York City’s Surrogate Courthouse in the courtroom of Judge Eva Preminger, daughter of producer Ingo Preminger and niece of producer-director Otto Preminger.

PGA East chair David Picker will lead a 45-minute Q&A session with Brown; Sheila Nevins, president of HBO documentary and family programming, will conduct a similar conversation with Ellerbee. The audience of 200 will comprise PGA members and guests.

Brown is the producer of more than 30 films and TV programs. He has received four Academy Award nominations for best picture and was presented with the Irving G. Thalberg Award in 1991.

Ellerbee is a three-time Emmy Award winner and received the Peabody Award in 1999.
