Samantha Morton, Peter Dinklage and Peter O’Toole are set to star in Charles Sturridge’s “Lassie,” which starts shooting May 23 in Ireland.
Odyssey Entertainment is handling worldwide sales for the project, which is based on Eric Knight’s 1938 novel about a trusty pooch, “Lassie Come Home.”
Set in Britain shortly before WWII, it’s the story of a dog sold by her poverty-stricken owners to a duke who lives 500 miles away.
Ed Guiney of Dublin-based Element Films is producing with Sturridge and Francesca Barra, in conjunction with Classic Media and Isle of Man Film.
Samuel and Victor Hadida are co-producing through their Davis Films and will release the pic in France.
Pic has been pre-sold to Entertainment in the U.K., Shockiku in Japan, Applause in Taiwan, and distribs in a slew of smaller territories.
