Miniseries gets a makeover

Mount Film Co. will remake the 1992 miniseries “Son of the Morning Star,” based on the life of Gen. George Custer, as a feature.

Originally adapted from the book by Evan Connell, “The Son of the Morning Star” will be adapted by Mark Wheaton as a political thriller. Melissa Mathison wrote the miniseries for Mount.

Mount principal Thom Mount will produce the pic with former investment banker Jonah Hirsch.

Promoted to general at the age of 23, Custer led 25 battlefield charges for the Union Army in the Civil War before he was killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876.

Wheaton recently wrote “An Unfinished Country” for Blue Star Pictures.
