Chuck Russell (“The Mask,” “Eraser”) will direct “Point Thunder,” a nuclear war drama for the Ruddy Morgan Organization.
Pic, written by Dean Widenmann, is about a new submarine rushed into service and the commander and lieutenant who have to fight an extraterrestrial force that is taking control of it.
Al Ruddy, Herb Nanas and Stanley Isaacs will produce the film, the second to be funded with RMO’s revolving credit line with the Bank of Ireland. Other pic is a Mike Newell Western picked up in turnaround from Universal.
Russell’s previous gig was as executive producer of “Collateral.” He last directed “The Scorpion King” in 2002.
