Judith Light and Danny Aiello are starring in “The Shoemaker/A Broken Sole,” one of three shorts in an untitled feature film written by Susan Charlotte and directed by Antony Marsellis. Each short in the trilogy deals with the theme of 9/11.
Light and Aiello are the two primary characters in a segment set in Hell’s Kitchen. He’s a shoemaker, looking to close early, while she’s an NYU film prof who needs a heel fixed. Their day is changed irrevocably by the events of that morning.
The second vignette is called “The Cabbie/I Don’t Trust Your Hand,” which takes place three months after 9/11; the third is “Run, I’ve Got to Love/Confessions of a Dyslexic Lover,” set a year after the attacks.
Independently financed pic shoots in New York this summer. Part of the proceeds of the film will go to New York City Engine Company No. 23. Light is a recurring cast member on “Law & Order: SVU.”
