Lieberman on ‘Bridge’

Mouse, Walden bring producer to 'Terabithia'

Producer Hal Lieberman has come onboard to produce “Bridge to Terabithia” for Disney and Walden Media.

He most recently produced Walden’s “Around the World in 80 Days.” He previously produced “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.”

Lieberman has a first-look deal at Columbia as a solo producer. He previously was partnered with helmer Jonathan Mostow in the Mostow/Lieberman shingle.

“Bridge to Terabithia” is on a fast track for the Mouse House. Production is skedded for February in New Zealand with an eye toward a spring 2007 release (Daily Variety, Sept. 27).

Based on an award-winning children’s novel, pic will be helmed by toon mogul Gabor Csupo, making his live-action helming bow.

Story is about an 11-year-old boy who befriends the class outsider, a tomboy. Together they create an imaginary world with giants, trolls and other magical beings.
