NEW YORK — Indie banner BB Entertainment Marketing has acquired North American rights to Lawrence Bender Prods. and Altavista Films’ Luis Mandoki-helmed “Innocent Voices.”
Based on scribe Oscar Torres’ childhood, Spanish-language pic focuses on an 11-year-old boy living in ’80s-era El Salvador amid civil war. Mexican helmer Mandoki co-penned the pic with Torres.
“Innocent Voices,” which won top honors at the Seattle Film Fest earlier this year, is skedded for a Sept. 23 release.
Bender has previously produced pics “Good Will Hunting,” “Kill Bill” and “Pulp Fiction.”
BB is headed by former Mann Theaters CEO Ben Barbosa.
