Imax has big plans for China site

Country one of co.'s fastest growing markets

HOLLYWOOD — Imax has pacted with Thai Tai Enterprises (Liaoning) to install an Imax theater system at a mall being built in Shenyang, China, one of the largest cities in northeast China.

With 24 Imax theaters now skedded to be open in China by 2008, the country is Imax’s second-largest market in the world and continues to be one of its fastest growing markets.

“We view Imax as a way to drive the financial performance of our new development,” said Meng QingHua, prexy of Thai Tai Enterprises (Liaoning).

The theater will open in the fourth quarter of 2007 and unspool Hollywood blockbusters as well as original 2-D and 3-D Imax films.
