Hyde Park launches unit

HPI to rep 'Monkeyface,' 'Premonition'

Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment has launched a foreign sales division, Hyde Park Intl., and will act as a sole financier for the first time.

Hyde Park will finance “Monkeyface,” starring Richard Gere, and “Premonition” through its exclusive partnership with London-based funds manager Brass Hat Group. (Daily Variety, July 28) HPI will rep foreign sales on both titles.

Hyde Park plans to fully finance three titles each year with budgets of $50 million and under. The production company will continue to act as co-financier on larger-budget studio pics.

Brazilian director Vicente Amorim will make his English-language helming bow with “Monkeyface,” a romantic heist pic set at a racetrack. Production should begin this fall.

“Premonition” is a psychological horror pic about a woman who realizes she’s living the days of her life out of order. Pic is set for a July start.

Hyde Park continues its relationship with Bennett Pozil, group manager of Natexis Banque Populaires.

Upcoming from Hyde Park are Touchstone Pictures’ “Shopgirl” and DreamWorks’ “Dreamer.” Both are scheduled for an October release.

Hyde Park is currently packaging “Mandrake the Magician” with Baldwin Entertainment Group.
