NEW YORK — Picturehouse prexy and indie distrib whiz Bob Berney will be feted with the second annual “industry toast” at the Hamptons Film Festival, running Oct. 19-23.
Honor is awarded to an exec who “best exemplifies the spirit of independent film,” according to the fest.
Berney, who recently departed Newmarket Films to head Picturehouse, the joint venture between New Line and HBO Films, has overseen the releases of films including “The Passion of the Christ,” “The Woodsman” and “Monster.”
Last year, Sony Pictures Classic co-prexy Marcie Bloom received the Hamptons toast.
First release on Picturehouse’s slate is Gus Van Sant’s “Last Days,” which bowed in competition in Cannes.
