Foreign press toast Berk in prexy post

Other electees include Doss, Camara, Tatna

The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. has tapped Philip Berk as the org’s new president.

An HFPA member for 28 years, Berk is serving his fifth term as president for the 2005-06 year. He is a correspondent for FilmInk, Australia and Galaxie, Malaysia.

Other electees include Mahfouz Doss as VP, Jorge Camara as treasurer and Meher Tatna as executive secretary. Lorenzo Soria will chair the new board of directors. Board members include Yani Begakis, Yoram Kahana, Mira Panajotovic, Noemia Young, and Silvia Bizio.

The annual HFPA installation luncheon to honor the officers and directors will be held this summer, when the association makes its annual donation to nonprofit orgs and films schools. During the past 10 years, the HFPA has bestowed more than $4.5 million in financial grants.
