CANADA — A day after Serge Losique’s Montreal World Film Festival announced it had regained accreditation from the Paris-based Intl. Federation of Film Producers Assn. (FIAPF), the New Montreal FilmFest disclosed Thursday that it will get similar status next year.
The news comes after meetings between FilmFest prexy Alain Simard, artistic director Moritz de Hadeln and FIAPF directors.
The federation will send a delegate to the FilmFest’s inaugural edition Sept. 18-25.
For the first time, North America will have two competitive international fests standing alongside Cannes, Berlin, Venice and San Sebastian.
