Veteran MTV Films exec Heather Parry is ankling the shingle to help expand the development slate of Happy Madison, the Sony-based production company run by Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo.
Parry, a co-producer on MTV and Happy Madison’s “The Longest Yard,” has been assigned to oversee moving the banner beyond its core of broad mass-appeal comedies and into features based on books, music and vidgames. Par and Sony co-financed “The Longest Yard.”
Parry will also work with Doug Robinson in developing TV projects for Happy Madison. Tom McNulty will continue to spearhead the shingle’s comedy development.
Parry’s a producer on Paramount’s recently wrapped 50 Cent project “Get Rich or Die Tryin’. ” She was promoted to VP of MTV News and Films in 2003 to develop and produce movies for MTV Films and oversee the music net’s development projects.
She joined MTV a dozen years ago as a segment producer.
Happy Madison’s in production on Sony/Revolution’s “Click,” starring Sandler, and recently wrapped on “Benchwarmers” for Revolution and “Nana’s Boy” for Fox. Shingle’s a producer on Sony’s upcoming “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo.”
