Col moves on ‘Manny’

Wick, Fisher buy rights to Peterson book

Columbia Pictures and Red Wagon partners Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher have purchased Holly Peterson’s book “The Manny” in a preemptive six-figure sale.

Dial Press completed a $1 million, two-book deal with Peterson last week.

Novel is about a male nanny who falls for his client, a divorced mother who lives on Park Avenue.

Wick and Fisher have two big book adaptations coming up, the Sam Mendes-directed adaptation of “Jarhead” for Universal and the Rob Marshall-directed adaptation of “Memoirs of a Geisha” for Sony.

Red Wagon was recently the catalyst in seven-figure book deals for Elizabeth Kostova novel “The Historian” and Robert Ludlum’s “The Chancellor Manuscript.” Latter is being developed as a star vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio, scripted by Michael Seitzman.
