‘Cima’ cinches nods

Helmer Osama Fawzi’s controversial religious satire “Bahib el cima” (I Love Cinema) grabbed the top prizes at Egypt’s National Film Festival awards held Friday.

Pic, Egypt’s entry for Oscar’s foreign-language film category, snagged film, director, actress (Laila Olwi) and actor (Mahmoud Hemeida).

Some 18 features, docs and shorts competed for about $100,000 worth of prizes.

Thesp Ahmed Zaki, who died last month cancer, received a lifetime achievement award along with director Mohamed Radi, cinematographer Said El-Shimi and film critic Samir Farid.

Zaki was halfway through the biopic of singer Halim, which reportedly will not be completed.
