Builders block out funding for films

Theo bows coin investment co.; first title is 'Blind Guy'

Construction industry exec Milton Theo has launched film financing shingle Theta Films, a consortium of international real estate builders that plans to finance pics budgeted between $10 million and $20 million.

First title is “Blind Guy,” a comedy directed by James Keach. Kathy Morgan Intl. handles foreign sales.

Now in production, pic stars Chris Pine as a visually impaired young man who falls for his doctor’s Indian receptionist, leading to a clash between her conservative Hindu family and his own Catholic parents.

Cast also includes Eddie Kaye Thomas (“American Pie” franchise) and Jane Seymour.

Keach produces with Costa Theo, Joy Mellins and Dave Shanks, with Steve Bickel serving as exec producer. Christopher Theo wrote the script.
