Barely Legal

High school grossout comedy "Barely Legal" lacks even the urge to find a sparkling angle on an overdone subgenre. Three 17-year-old high school dudes and their plan to make an actual porn vid go predictably out of control, but pic's view of hormones trumping good sense contains zero insight and even fewer memorable visual jokes, hardly pushing the needle on outrageous humor.

High school grossout comedy “Barely Legal” lacks even the urge to find a sparkling angle on an overdone subgenre. Three 17-year-old high school dudes and their plan to make an actual porn vid go predictably out of control, but pic’s view of hormones trumping good sense contains zero insight and even fewer memorable visual jokes, hardly pushing the needle on outrageous humor. Made two years ago under title “After School Special,” pic had a German vid release in May and opened Stateside Friday sans previews on roughly two dozen screens: deep vid bins are next.

Unable to score girls, Deacon (Erik von Detten), Fred (Tony Denman) and Matt (Daniel Foster) arrive at the lame idea of making a porno as a way to get rich and impress the other half. From such uninspired stuff a limp comedy is made, as these virgins find out how hard it is to stage, let alone do, the real thing. Help comes in form of stripper Ashley (Sarah-Jane Potts), while trouble is delivered via school punk Jake (Riley Smith) and local porn star Vic Ramalot (Horatio Sanz).
