FilmFour preps three features
LONDON — Gillian Anderson is in negotiations to star in “Straightheads,” a dark revenge thriller that’s the feature debut of British documentary director Dan Reed.
“Straightheads” is the story of a middle-class couple who embark on a spree of vengeful violence after they are assaulted by a gang.
Kevin Loader and Damien Jones are producing, with financing from FilmFour, the U.K. Film Council, Screen West Midlands and U.K. distrib Verve. Shooting starts in late October.
Pic is one of three projects from FilmFour that will start shooting this fall.
David Mackenzie is prepping the left-field romance “Hallam Foe,” starring Jamie Bell and Connie Nielsen. Bell plays a troubled teen from a broken family who falls for a woman identical to his dead mother. Nielsen will play his wicked stepmother.
Producer is Gillian Berrie, with coin from FilmFour and Scottish Screen. Shooting starts in November.
Shane Meadows will begin filming the autobiographical skinhead drama “This Is England” (reviously called “Oi! This Is England) this month, with backing from FilmFour, the U.K. Film Council, EM Media and distrib Optimum Releasing.
Stephen Graham and Andrew Shim feature in a cast largely made up of unknowns. Pic is based on the director’s experiences as a preteen skinhead in early 1980s England.
