Eastwood, Hanson to discuss helmer's work

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences will salute helmer Don Siegel at 8 p.m. July 20 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Clint Eastwood and Curtis Hanson will discuss Siegel’s work and influence on their films, followed by a screening of his 1956 sci-fi classic “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” in a newly struck print from Paramount.

Presented in association with the UCLA Film & Television Archive, event kicks off UCLA’s retrospective series of Siegel’s work including “The Lineup,” “Dirty Harry,” “The Shootist” and “Escape From Alcatraz.”
