A ‘Big’ deal for scribe

Quarles pacts with Emmett/Furla

Emmett/Furla Films has signed a two-picture deal with “Big Momma’s House” writer Darryl J. Quarles.

“Absolute Justice” is an action-thriller in which an urban street cop is mentored by a veteran Southern detective. “Mercy” is a buddy-action pic set in the underworld of New Orleans.

Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce the pictures with Quarles. Mary L. Aloe and Jeff Rice brought Quarles to Emmett/Furla and will serve as executive producers on the pics.

Emmett/Furla is prepping “16 Blocks” starring Bruce Willis and Mos Def. Also upcoming are Neil LaBute’s “The Wicker Man” starring Nicolas Cage and Bruce Beresford’s “The Contract” starring Morgan Freeman and John Cusack.

Quarles recently wrote “The Love God” for Imagine Entertainment.
