PRODUCTION INCENTIVES:

Hurricane Katrina’s devastation has put the state’s production on hold, with no estimates of when business will be back up and running. What the state offers is transferable investor credit of 10% on films in the $300,000-$8 million range, 15% on films over $8 million; employment credit (state residents only) of 10% on $300,000-$1 million films, 20% on films over $1 million. On Jan. 1, the rules will be changed to a 25% investors rebate on all films that spend over $300,000 in the state — overall budget will no longer be included. Employment credit will be 10% for all films over $300,000 and will be transferable.
