Foreign distribution report

B.O. cume: £57.5 million ($103.7 million)

Toppers: Nigel Green, Trevor Green, joint managing directors

Upcoming films: “The Man” (Sept. 9), “A History of Violence” (Sept. 30), “Domino” (Oct. 14), “Dreamer” (Oct. 21), “Saw 2” (Oct. 28), “The New World” (Nov. 11), “Keeping Mum” (Dec. 2), “Lassie” (Dec. 16), “Brokeback Mountain” (Dec. 30)

Analysis: After three years of “The Lord of the Rings,” the brothers Green couldn’t be in better shape, even though they didn’t manage to cling on to their minority stake in Odeon Cinemas for very long. So far, ’05 has provided a string of strong results from pics that could easily have flopped without the Green’s brand of smart, aggressive support — “Wedding Crashers” ($22 million and rising), local toon “Valiant” ($15.9 million), Oscar winner “Million Dollar Baby” ($10.1 million) and chiller “White Noise” ($12 million). Worthy fare such as “Hotel Rwanda,” “The Sea Inside” and “In Good Company” proved less successful, however. Entertainment also has hired ex-Film Council exec Robert Jones to run a new production venture, Material Entertainment, in partnership with New Line.
