Burnett onboard for brothers
NEW YORK — Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s the Weinstein Co. has tapped longtime Dan Klores Communications exec Liza Burnett as executive VP of publicity.
Based in Gotham, Burnett will head the Weinsteins’ domestic publicity department, including oversight of all staff and the film roster for both the temporarily named Weinstein Co. and genre arm Dimension Films.
Miramax publicity exec Dani Weinstein has been upped to senior veep of publicity and will continue to supervise the Weinstein Co.’s slate.
Upcoming pics for the company include Jennifer Aniston starrer “Derailed,” Stephen Frears’ “Mrs. Henderson Presents” and Anthony Minghella’s “Breaking and Entering.”
The Weinsteins said Friday that they expect to appoint another PR exec to separately supervise the Dimension slate.
Last week the Weinsteins sealed a deal to lease 27,000 square feet of office space for their new company in Gotham.
After serving at Klores for six years, Burnett will report directly to the Weinsteins and begins in the new post Sept. 12.
Burnett headed the film division at Klores since the praisery launched the department in 2001. Firm has repped clients including Jean Doumanian Prods., GreeneStreet Films, Miramax Films, Cinetic Media, Showtime and MTV. Variety is a former client.
“Liza is everything we are looking for in a leader,” said the Weinsteins in a joint statement. “Her energy and experience make her the ideal person to lead our PR team.”
Dani Weinstein served as veep of publicity at Miramax for the past three years. She joined the mini-major in 1999.
