Warner unit plucks ‘Duck’

Pic won 11 Ariel Awards

Warner Independent Pictures has partnered with Alfonso Cuaron’s Esperanto Filmoj to distribute “Duck Season” in North America.

The feature film debut of Fernando Eimbcke is a comedy that follows two 14-year-old boys who have devised a perfect parent-free Sunday — videogames, porn magazines, soda and pizza. However, their plans are hampered by the arrival of their beautiful 16-year-old neighbor and a depressed pizza deliveryman. Eimbcke wrote the script with Paula Markovitch.

Christian Valdelievre, Lulu Prods. and Cinepantera produced the pic, which won 11 Ariel Awards, Mexico’s highest film prize.

WIP senior veep of production and acquisitions Paul Federbush negotiated the deal with Andrew Kramer, exec VP of business affairs. Traction Media repped the film. Funny Balloons handles foreign sales.
