Mirage pair board Universal pilot drama
Universal Pictures has acquired the Tom Pabst drama pitch “Turbulence.” Mirage partners Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella will produce.
Pabst will write the script about an L.A.-based pilot who is frustrated by his life until, over the course of several flights to Tokyo, he stumbles on a conspiracy that fascinates him. Soon, he’s drawn to commit a crime that leads him into the arms of a beautiful woman and into the Tokyo underworld.
Project was the first acquisition by U production prexy Jon Gordon, who’ll steer “Turbulence” with senior veep Dylan Clark. Laurie Webb will be the production exec for Mirage, which most recently produced “The Interpreter” for Universal.
Pabst’s credits include the New Line pic “Fracture” and “Indianapolis” at Warner Bros. He’s writing and exec producing Fox pilot “Eye in the Sky.”
