Pennette pens 2-year deal with studio
Touchstone Television has signed Marco Pennette to a lucrative two-year overall deal, just weeks after the scribe-producer landed a pair of series orders for the 2005-06 season.
Pennette, creator of NBC’s “Caroline in the City,” co-created (with Oliver Goldstick) the Peacock’s upcoming fertility clinic drama “Inconceivable.” He’s created “Crumbs,” the Jane Curtin-Fred Savage laffer headed to ABC in midseason.
Both skeins are produced by Touchstone Television in association with Tollin/Robbins Prods., and were based in part on Pennette’s own life experiences.
Under the seven-figure pact, Pennette will serve as exec producer of both “Inconceivable” and “Crumbs,” and be involved in the day-to-day production of both. He’ll also develop and exec produce new projects for Touchstone.
“Inconceivable” marks Pennette’s first big foray into hourlong drama. Scribe is known as one of the town’s more prolific creators of half-hour laffers.
In addition to “Caroline,” UTA-repped Pennette-co-created ABC’s “I’m With Her” and the WB’s “All About the Andersons.” His other credits range from “Kate & Allie” and “Dave’s World” to “The Hughleys.”
