Bateman pacts with Weinstein Co.
NEW YORK — Thesp Jason Bateman has inked a deal to join helmer Jesse Peretz’s “Fast Track” for Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s temporarily named Weinstein Co.
Film will lense this summer in Gotham; Zach Braff and Amanda Peet also star. This Is That partners Anne Carey, Ted Hope and Anthony Bregman are producing.
Braff will play a young dad who accepts a job at his father-in-law’s marketing agency. Bateman will play an obnoxious co-worker who uses a wheelchair.
Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner’s 2929 Entertainment is financing the pic and repping it internationally. The Weinstein Co. has domestic rights. Marc Butan, Cuban and Wagner are exec producers.
Tyros David Guion and Michael Handelman penned the script.
With “Track,” Bateman continues to stay busy during the hiatus from his TV series “Arrested Development.” Thesp recently signed to shoot a cameo for Universal’s “The Break Up,” starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn.
