New Line flies to ‘Forget’

Kruger, Shapiro adapt romantic laffer for New Line

New Line Cinema has hired Elizabeth Kruger and Craig Shapiro to adapt “Forget About It,” an unpublished manuscript by Caprice Crane, with Scarlett Johansson attached to star.

Romantic comedy concerns a woman who fakes amnesia in order to dodge her life’s responsibilities and discovers it’s the most empowering thing she’s ever done.

Bo Hyde and Kendall Morgan’s Cherry Road Films brought the project to Tom Lassally’s Kustom Entertainment, where they developed the pitch with the writers.

Lassally, Morgan and Melanie Johansson will produce the pic. Kustom’s Robyn Meisinger and Cherry Road’s Bo Hyde are executive producers. At New Line, VP George Waud and senior VP Stokely Chaffin oversee the project.

Crane, the former head writer for MTV, is the daughter of actress Tina Louise. Her debut novel, “Stupid and Contagious,” is scheduled for publication through Warner Books.

Kruger and Shapiro are also adapting Universal Pictures’ “Little Earthquakes,” based on the novel by Jennifer Weiner. They recently did a rewrite on “Bridge and Tunnel” for New Line and wrote the comedy “Sports Widow” for U; Reese Witherspoon is attached to star.
