NEW YORK — Matthew Stein has been named senior veep of production for Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s Dimension Films label.
Exec is veep of production at genre imprint Dimension, which will become part of the Weinsteins’ new media company, temporarily named the Weinstein Co., when the brothers exit their contract with the Walt Disney Co. on Oct. 1.
Until then, Stein will continue in his position at Disney-owned Dimension.
Gotham-based exec will report to Richard Saperstein — recently tapped exec veep and head of production for Dimension — as well as Bob Weinstein.
Stein’s duties will include overseeing acquisitions as well as day-to-day production and development of Dimension’s slate. He will continue working closely with writers and filmmakers to develop projects.
“Matt is incredibly creative and talented and has been a key member of the Dimension team,” Bob Weinstein said.
Former Dimension production co-topper Brad Weston headed to Paramount earlier this year, while Dimension’s other departing co-head, Andrew Rona, is expected to join Focus Features’ Rogue label.
Stein started at Dimension in 1999 as assistant to Bob Weinstein. He was upped last year to veep of production, development and home entertainment, working closely on pics such as “Bad Santa” and “Scary Movie 3.”
Upcoming Dimension pics include horror spoof “Scary Movie 4” and horror remake “Pulse.”
