Miramax sells India pic rights

Deal includes 'Sin City,' 'Danny the Dog'

MUMBAI — Miramax has sold distrib rights for more than 135 films to Indian production and distribution company United Television (UTV) Motion Pictures for 10 years.

Deal includes Robert Rodriguez’s Bruce Willis starrer “Sin City” and “Danny the Dog,” featuring Jet Li and Morgan Freeman.

“This first bulk deal of its kind includes theatrical, DVD, homevid and satellite rights to movies that were released globally but have still to be exploited in India,” said UTV Motion Pictures CEO Ronnie Screwvala.

While Screwvala refused to comment on the value of the deal, industry sources peg it at between $800,000 and $1 million.
